The Lake Simcoe Regional Airport has been working on improving the airport. To this end the airport is scheduled to close for improvements to the runway and ramp area starting Sept 12, 2010. We will be relocating our aircraft stationed there to our Midland and Collingwood Locations. If you have flights booked between Sept 12 and Oct 12 Please contact our offices to make alternative arrangements.

March 11, 2008 · Aviation Language Proficiency Examiners at Future Air

Future Air is pleased to announce that two of its personnel have been authorized by Transport Canada as Aviation Language Proficiency Examiners.

As of March 5, 2008 all new licensee candidates must prove that they are capable of both understanding and communicating aviation instructions. The tests that are given are not tests of aviation knowledge though aviation scenarios are used. These tests have been mandated by Transport Canada in compliance with an ICAO directive to improve the safety of all flights by increasing the ability of pilots to be able to understand what is being said over the airwaves and thus increase situational awareness.

To quote a Transport Canada employee/'s porting on avcanada /" The Aviation Language Proficiency Test (hereafter called ALPT) is a 20 question oral examination that is administered either over the phone or in person without the /"Test Taker/" and /"Examiner/" having direct visual contact (divider or back-to-back). It is not a test of aviation knowledge, but a test of the candidate/'s ability to understand and speak English in an aviation context. It can be taken prior to having any flight experience, prior to solo, etc. -- it just must be completed before the license is issued./"

Pilots who already have a license are grandfathered in as proficient. New licenses will be issued by Transport Canada over the next couple of years to those pilots with an indication of their status. A line will be added indicating /"Language Proficiency – English/".
